Sales/Marketing Opening

The Cheyenne Stampede of the Western States Hockey League is seeking qualified candidates interested in a part time or full time position in our Sales, Marketing and Promotions department. This position is an excellent opportunity for those interested in sports marketing and enables employees to gain experience in multiple facets of the industry. We are looking for driven, independent workers who are willing to take on multiple roles for the team such a sponsor sales, ticketing and game operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Monthly salary based on experience and performance, plus commission.
    • Commissions up to 40% 
  • Create proposals for potential sponsors
  • Gain revenue through multiple sales products
  • We provide you with an account list, but you are encouraged to add new accounts
  • Manage existing accounts
  • Sell ticket packages, season tickets, group tickets, etc to community members
  • Assist in game night operations including sponsor fulfillment, customer service and various other game night duties
  • We want to establish a long term relationship with the new sales team member, and will reward the successful candidate with bonuses as the sales revenue increase.

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years sales experience preferred
  • Familiarity with the sports industry
    • Must be able to SELL Hockey
  • Highly competitive
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Must be able to work game nights

Cheyenne Stampede Internship Program:

Summer 2016 (June 1-August 14) and 2016-2017 Season (August 17-March 31)
As a part of the Cheyenne Stampede organization, interns will be exposed to the inner workings of a professionally run hockey program. Specifically, interns will receive the opportunity to become involved with game night operations, marketing research and special projects. All interns will be required to handle computer applications with emphasis on Microsoft Office programs (i.e., Excel, Word, etc.). In addition to working games, the intern will have the opportunity to work in the office environment with a minimum of eight hours per week. The semester will offer a chance to learn the daily regimen of a sports franchise, meet important contacts, and the chance to be involved in many aspects of the operation.
Interns will be educated in the following:

  • Game day operations
  • Marketing
  • Office management
  • Organization
  • Special events coordination
  • Video Production
  • Sponsorship activation

Compensation
The internships offered by the Cheyenne Stampede can be used to obtain course credits towards graduation. Check with your College or University.
Location
Interns are required to find their own transportation to and from work. The Cheyenne Stampede office is at the Cheyenne Ice and Events Center, 1530 W. Lincolnway, Cheyenne, WY 82001
Duties
1. Game Night- the game of hockey is an event and much occurs behind the scenes to insure our guests have an enjoyable evening regardless of the outcome. Intern responsibilities on game night will include (but not limited to) the following:

  • Helping with in-arena promotions (i.e.: ticket sales, promotions, and intermission activities) at all Stampede home games.
  • Assist with Customer Service and ticketing
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the General Manager

2. Research- you will be asked to assist in the research of general market information, hockey specific information and corporate partnership information as well as tracking of various media announcements.

  • Create literature, ticket sales promotions, and other special interest projects as needed
  • Collect and organize game notes, game stats, team rosters and media guides to distribute on game nights
  • Help in compiling team statistics on team and league attendance figures and player performance
  • Find, schedule, and attend community relations events

3. Special Projects- depending upon your development and time commitments, you could be asked to create special projects to assist the Stampede staff. This could include grassroots marketing programs, advertising community projects, etc.

Equipment Manager:
The position of Hockey Equipment Manager, In compliance with WSHL rules and regulations,

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
•Assist with set-up for video and stereo system
•Prepares both home and away locker rooms
•Provides a variety of supplies and equipment for both home and visiting teams
•Prepares athletes’ equipment for games
•Prepares locker room for referees
•Orders post-game meals
•Provides equipment duties during all home and away games and practices
•Oversees team laundry operation
•Must be able to travel and maintain flexible hours
•Skate sharpening
•Perform some office duties, including trip planning and managing equipment inventory

QUALIFICATIONS:
•High School diploma
•Strong knowledge of the sport of ice hockey
•Knowledge of WSHL/JUNIOR Hockey regulations
•Ability to work evening, weekends, and holidays as the schedule dictates
•Valid driver’s license is required, with ability to travel
•Exceptional leadership and strong organizational skills

  • Positions report to Coaching Staff and General Manager

WORK HOURS/SCHEDULE:
The Hockey Equipment Manager is a part-time, 9 month position, from Late August through Early April.
Normal hours are flexible to the needs of the organization.

Cheyenne Stampede Regional Scout

The Cheyenne Stampede are seeking qualified candidates for a Midwest and West Coast Regional Scout(s). The Stampede are seeking the help of a dedicated, hardworking, and motivated scout interested in promoting the Cheyenne Stampede organization. The Cheyenne Stampede participates in the Western States Hockey League (WSHL).

This position is responsible for recruiting talented players with the goals of playing high level junior hockey, college hockey, and professional hockey. http://www.cheyennestampede.com

Candidates should have previous coaching and/or playing experience at the professional, NCAA, ACHA, and/or junior levels. Candidate should have excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as be well versed in the mission of the Cheyenne Stampede organization. This is a part time position and compensation will be based upon specified showcases attended, players present at tryouts, and players signed by the Stampede.

Social Event Manager – Social Media Coordinator
This is a volunteer position: Could be “intern“ Position.

  1. Coordinate and manage events with team, parents, and host Families
  2. Assist with all Game Day Opps.
  3. Coordinate and manage alumni events
  4. Social Media posts / production
  5. Assist with Team App Build - Not programming
  6. Help with all aspects during a game of hosting guests
  7. Assist and help coordinate “In-Game” Promotions

Requirements: playing experience preferred but not required; candidate should possess an excellent work ethic, strong communication skills, and a commitment to diversity and ability to work with a diverse population of athletes, parents, coaches, and general manager. Must attend all Home Games!


Cheerleading/Dance Coach

Position Summary:
The Cheerleading/Dance Coach is responsible for choreography and teaching cheer routines to the cheerleading squad.
Be knowledgeable and skilled in tumbling and stunting to ensure the safety of all program participants.
Have the ability to work with teenagers to lead them to success.
Be professional, organized and dedicated Coach.
The Coach is responsible for setting and conducting practice times and supervising the
team at Stampede games and any other activities to promote Stampede spirit.

Essential Responsibilities:
• Work with cheerleaders during practices and events
• Assess skills and assign team positions
• Develop practice schedule and organize practices (at least two to three times a week) to provide both individual and team development
• Work with General Manager/Head Coach in scheduling facilities for practices
• Establish and maintain standards of Cheer behavior and provide proper supervision of Cheer/Dance at all times
• Model sport-like behavior and maintain appropriate professional conduct by being a
positive role model for cheerleaders
• Work with General Manager to established procedures for uniforms and equipment.
• Assist with the ordering of uniforms and equipment within determined budget.
• Observe cheer/dance team during events and practices to determine the needs for individual or team improvement
• Enforce and Establish rules of the squad, including those regarding tardiness, missed practices and/or games, unsportsmanship or unladylike conduct. Maintains forms, emergency data cards,
insurance records, equipment inventory, and other related records.
• Organize meetings for team prospects and encourage participation.
Hold tryouts or conduct auditions to select members of the cheer/dance squad
•Supervise all fund raising to supplement funds for travel, uniforms, and supplies
•Perform other duties as assigned by General Manager

Preferred but NOT Required
First aid, CPR, Livescan, Concussion awareness certificate, NFHS Coaching Fundamentals or ASEP Coaching Requirements and NFHS Spirit Safety Certificate. If providing stunting must provide current stunting certification.

Pay is negotiable. Hours flexible.
